The Qutubee Described By
Shaykh Saleem al-Hilaalee
Translated
by Maaz Qureshi [1] Some
doubtful calls have entered into the arena of Salafiyyah,
such as the Qutubiyyah and some of
the Jihaadee groups.
Indeed they put on the outer clothing of Ahlus-Sunnah
wal-Jamaa’ah so that they may say to the youth who have just begun to
drink from the well of the Book and the Sunnah
with the understanding of the Salafus-Saalih:
‘We are from you and with you. Do
you not see that we wear your dress, and ascribe ourselves to Ahlus-Sunnah
wal-Jamaa’ah?’
And they swear that they are from them, and that they are sincere. However,
the true scholars reply: ‘Look at the actions of their hands, and do not be
distracted by the tears in their eyes…’
So their crocodile tears do not deceive the eyes that see with the
luminary light. So if they were
truthful, then why would they launch attacks of disparagement, curses, and
defamatory insinuations upon the scholars of the minhaajus-salafee
and its callers who are known by it, and it is known by them in this era? They
have a tendency to attack the scholars’ of knowledge and understanding, claiming
that these are scholars of menstruation and childbirth, and that they do not
know anything about the reality of the people, and that they do not direct their
attention to anything from the field of politics, nor to the plots of the people
of wiswaas (satanic whispers). They
attack them in their area of concentration by saying that they are monks with
books not leaving their hermitage to go out into the street so that they may see
the condition of the Ummah and help
in removing the affliction and oppression, rather, (they say that) one of them
is imprisoned in his library! And
they continue to attack their manhaj
(methodology) by saying that they are sheltered in what they write about the
past which is far and distant from the harsh reality of today.
They further their insult to them by referring to them with corruption,
so they say: ‘They work to receive revenue from the ruler,’ or ‘The slaves
of the slaves of the slaves…’ And
lastly, they attack their ’aqeedah
by stating that they are the Murji‘ah
of the era, to the extent that one of them will describe the Salafee
scholars of this era as: Khawaarij upon
the callers (du’aat), and Murji‘ah
with the rulers! There
have appeared in the arena of Salafiyyah
some new terms that are propagated by those who wish to cause a rift in the rank
of the Salafees.
So you will see them saying about themselves and their followers, ‘We
are the revivalist Salafees (Salafiyyah
Tajdeediyyah),’ and about the scholars and the students of knowledge,
‘These are the traditionalist Salafees.’’’ Footnotes: [1] al-Jamaa’aatul-Islaamiyyah (p. 409-410) of Shaykh Saleem al-Hilaalee |
